Juno playing Batman’s sidekick in Dark Knight Rises?

How unlucky can one girl get!? Third story in ten minutes and it’s another comic book item – this time, one for “The Dark Knight Rises”. I love Batman but please, for the love of EW, make my next item an Orlando Bloom story.

Buried in this past weekend’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Holiday Killer casting announcement was an extra nugget noting that Juno Temple (“Year One”) was in talks to play a “street-smart Gotham girl”.

Noticed that a few people are speculating that this character might actually be a female ‘Robin’. It’s not the first time Batman’s sidekick has been rumoured for a role in “The Dark Knight Rises” but it’s definitely the first we’ve heard of Robin not having a dick adam’s apple.

Aint it Cool says, “When we last saw Barbara “Batgirl” Gordon she was still pretty tiny, so my suspicion is they might be casting something akin to a female Robin.”

They’re only guessing, of course, but there could be something to this. I just did a Google and – well, I don’t know much about comics, that’s why! –
discovered that there actually is a female Robin in the comics! Make that two! Had no idea!

One of them was Carrie Kelly , Batty’s sidekick in Frank Miller’s “Dark Knight Returns” book and the other was Stephanie Brown, who substituted Robin/Tim Drake for a spell there.

But comic fans, you tell me… is it likely Christopher Nolan would use either of those female characters in his film? It would make things more interesting, no? Different dynamics and all that?

Might Michael Jai White end up playing Black Panther and/or Luke Cage!?
