Lawrence, Spielberg win War

Jennifer Lawrence looks to headline a Steven Spielberg directed film about war photographer Lynsey Addario.

The Oscar bait, based on Addario’s memoir, is set up at Warner Bros with Andrew Lazar’s name listed on the producer’s chair.

”What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love And War”, heralded by The New York Times as ‘the shit!’ (or something similar), tells of an award-winning photog who went to Afghanistan during the post-9/11 invasion of Afghanistan and carved out a niche giving an identity to the victims of conflict. That includes how Afghans suffered during the Taliban regime, the Iraqi War, victims of genocide in Darfur, the rape of women in the Congo. Her work in dangerous locales included her being kidnapped by pro-Quaddafi forces in the Libyan civil war.

A number of entities were after the rights, and some choice actresses were in the mix to play Addaio – including Natalie Portman, Reese Witherspoon, and next big thing Margot Robbie.

With Lawrence and Spielberg both faves of the Hollywood Foreign Press and the geriatric Streisand-hating punks at the Academy, this one’s sure to be listed on a ballot come 2016 or 2017.
