Melissa McCarthy in talks for Ghostbusters

Melissa McCarthy is in early talks to star in Paul Feig’s “Ghostbusters” reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

McCarthy has been seen as a ‘sure thing’ for the project since Feig signed, being that she’s been in most of his movies. It’s not a done deal yet though, because McCarthy has other commitments to work around – like the newie she’s making with husband Ben Falcone titled “Michelle Darnell”.

The trade notes that the previously-rumoured Rebel Wilson and Jennifer Lawrence aren’t candidates at this stage. There are a couple of new names apparently due to meet with Feig (“Bridesmaids”, “The Heat”) about the movie though, Jillian Bell (“22 Jump Street”) and Cecily Strong (“Saturday Night Live”).

The new “Ghostbusters” won’t play in the same universe as Ivan Reitman’s “Ghostbusters” movies (1984, 1989) and will apparently attempt to be scarier than what’s come before.
