Rake may be headed for the chopping block

The writing seems to be on the wonky, illuminated sign when it comes to Fox’s “Rake”.

The Greg Kinnear-starrer, a remake of a popular Australian series, has not only been relegated TV’s dead slot – Friday nights – but some of its cast members are seemingly already beseeching new gigs.

Aussie actress Bojana Novakovic, who plays one of Kinnear’s many female “friends” on the amusing series, has been lined up to star in the ABC drama pilot “Agatha”.

From the “Grey’s Anatomy” stable – Mark Gordon & Co – the ABC Studios production would tell of a convict-turned-big-city criminologist (Novakovic) who is approached by the cops to help on a missing persons case.

Of course, if by some miracle “Rake” does return for a second season (which looks very unlikely- considering the ratings – at this stage), Novakovic is committed to it, but otherwise expect her to be headed off for make-up over at ABC.

Aaron Ashmore is also onboard “Agatha”.

With Novakovic already lining up her next TV gig, will Kinnear be next?

This week’s episode of “Rake” – despite a guest-turn from “Kangaroo Jack” superstar (!) Anthony Anderson – snagged a disappointing 0.8 among adults 18-49.
