“The Grapes of Wrath” Redux.
One might have suspected this day would’ve come a lot sooner – what with the novel’s 75th anniversary just around the corner. Maybe Steven Spielberg’s had to wait that long to find a spare slot in his schedule? (With the amount of projects listed as ‘in development’ on his IMDB page, that wouldn’t be surprising).
Spielberg has initiated talks with the estate of author John Steinbeck, hoping to produce a new film version of the classic book – it was previously made into a film in 1940 (with John Ford directing) – for DreamWorks.
Deadline, who have the report, don’t have an ETA on the project but remind us that Spielberg’s already committed to directing the movie “American Sniper” starring Bradley Cooper, which will occupy most of the next year or so.
Maybe it’ll happen after that…? (maybe it won’t happen at all, as many of Spielberg’s intended projects don’t. Spoilt for choice that man!)
