Zac Efron to play Ted Bundy

It’s hard to believe that Zac Efron got his rise to stardom on “High School Musical”, as he’s now nailing roles like this one. Efron will be playing one of the world’s most notorious serial killers, Ted Bundy, in “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile”.

The film, helmed by Joe Berlinger and written by Michael Werwie, is set from the perspective of Bundy’s longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Klopfer. Klopfer spent years denying the accusations against Bundy before turning him into police. She ultimately learned the truth with the rest of the world as Bundy revealed the true scope of his crimes nearing his execution.

According to THR, the project is being introduced by Voltage at Cannes, and paints Bundy as a portrait of evil at the same time as being surprisingly normal, given the heinous crimes he committed. The role should be perfect for Efron, to play the charm and depth involved with such a character.

Efron will be seen next in Baywatch alongside Dwayne Johnson.
