Up-and-coming actor Brenton Thwaites (“Son of a Gun”, “Maleficent”) has been cast opposite Johnny Depp in the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
The Wrap says the young Australian actor will play a young British soldier named Henry in the Disney blockbuster.
The film sees Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow hunted down by the villainous Captain Brand (Javier Bardem) for the murder of his brother.
Geoffrey Rush is expected to be back as Captain Barbossa, while Penelope Cruz is rumoured to be reprising her plucky female sidekick part from “Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides”.
Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg direct the film, which goes into production down under in February.
