Ask Clint replaces the section previously known as ‘Moviehole Mailbag‘ (and frequented by the ever-popular ‘Holden’; we hope – or do we? – he makes a return appearance here).

Instead of just offering up huffy-nostriled smart-arse answers, I’ll try and actually come up with some sort of half-intelligent retort or answer for you. Try and stay on the topic of film and entertainment please but if you must, I will accept the odd question regarding hard-to-move grime from shower screens.

Some of the mail I’ve received over the past week.

Hey Clint,
So what film do you think Paul Feig was referring to when he mentioned that sequel/reboot he may be directing in the Fall?
Dashund

Dashund,
There’s some speculation Feig may be helming “Ghostbusters 3” (People have come to that conclusion because Judd Apatow is involved in the film, and Feig works with Apatow on most occassions; there’s also the fact that Feig mentioned that one of the reasons he’s interested in doing this particular hush-hush project is because he wants to work with ‘the actors’ that are invovled in it – Aykroyd, Murray, and Ramis would indeed be high on any filmmaker’s wish-list as far as actors they’d like to work with) but a couple have folks have also said that the “Fletch” reboot, which is now back on after laying dormant for eons, could be the go. Guess we’ll find out in due course.

Clint,
All good that Paul Feig is doing movies with Judd Apatow producing, but when is Apatow going to direct a movie again? That guy has gotten lazy
Adam

Adam,
He’s not so much as lazy as he is a perfectionist; personally, I think that’s a good thing – look at how well “Knocked Up”, “The 40 Year-Old Virgin”, “Funny People” and “” turned out? Comedy classics most of ’em, right? But more to the point, Apatow is currently neck-deep in a new flick, it’s a spin-off of “Knocked Up” called “This is Forty” and fixes on Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s characters from the earlier film. Albert Brooks plays Rudd’s father and Megan Fox plays – departure here – some sort of temptress. They’ve actually been looking for someone to play a hockey teeth that gets his teeth knocked out. This man has to have a couple of front teeth missing because in the scene he’ll open his mouth to show the lead character’s which pegs he’s missing. If anyone’s interested, my knuckles could offer assistance.

Hey bro,
haven’t heard about any movies you’re making for a while. Anything in the works?
Ben

Ben,
We just wrapped our latest film about, er, six weeks ago. Will be officially announced soon but I’m really proud of this one – it’s, boxing gloves aside, our “Rocky”. The trailer should be out and about by years end.

Boys,
Haven’t heard much about Kane Hodder in a while. Is he still around?
Lame question, but it’s all I can think of at this time.
Warrant

Warrant,
No, a lame question would be “Hey Clint Dukes of Hazzard Darkman that be great cos Smallville swims smokey and the bandit holy batman!”. Your question actually comes with an answer : Hodder, I’m told, begins shooting his new film “Love in a Time of Monsters” in September. Directed by Matt Jackson, the low-budget horror pic features on a group of teenage zombies that inflitrate a family lodge staffed by people dressed as American icons. Should be fun in a “Bubba Ho-Tep” way.

Clint,
Can I get some “True Blood” spoilers?
Brit

Brit,
I have a big one I’ve been keeping under my hat actually; it’s for the season four finale titled ‘And When I Die’. They’re looking for a body double for one of the main characters because he/she mightn’t be standing come season 5. I don’t think I should say much more than that.

Clint,
Do you really think “The Abyss” is a better film than “Titanic”? I don’t think you can beat the visuals in the latter!
Chris

Chris,
But that’s just the problem – since when have films been judged solely on style? What about substance? The effects in “Avatar” were magnificent, but the story? Well that was lifted straight out of “Pocahontas”. “The Abyss”, which for 1989 also showcased some terrific effects (You’ll notice Cameron uses a lot of the same effects shots in it as he did “Terminator 2” – released two years later), just harboured a more engrossing, original story.

Hey man,
you know Corey Feldman, right? Can you ask him when “Lost Boys 4” is coming? Thought they were doing another one soonish?
Pete

Pete,
Corey says there’s nothing new on the “Lost Boys 4” front. That doesn’t mean there won’t be one, just that Warner Premiere haven’t greased the wheels on one yet.

Hey,
That “Place Behind the Pines” movie you guys mentioned; Ryan Gosling or James Franco doing that?
Jack

Jack,
Gosling and Bradley Cooper. Next role to be filled is that of Gosling’s on-screen son, a 17-year-old who “can hold his own in a street fight, yet sensitive and gentle underneath the tough exterior. A teddy bear with teeth and a temper. Growing up in a poor urban setting, he is a lost soul trying to find his way. Loveable and slightly innocent.” The movie shoots last week of July.

What’s that “I Hate You Dad” movie going to be like?
Sarah

Sarah,
The one with Adam Sandler and ? Hasn’t started filming yet, but have read some of it – it seems quite funny; much cruder than I thought it would be (harkens back to some of Sandler’s earlier flicks). There’s some funny, sexy stuff in it; I really like the early flashback scene where the 13-year-old version of Sandler’s character decides to ask a young pretty to the Def Leppard concert. He’s sitting there arguing with his buddy about which young beauty deserves to join him at ‘the lep’ and automatically rules out young one girl because she has an Andy Gibb backpack and looks too much like a girl – as opposed to the ‘women’ that the youngster fancies. A hot school teacher then enters and Donny, the cocky teen, decides she’s going to be his date. She’s flattered but tells him she can’t date students, so he suggests a ‘summer fling’ instead. Later, after class, much to Donny’s surprise, the teacher jumps the boy! Should make for an amusing scene and obviously sets up Sandler’s character to be somewhat of a ladies man.

Clint,
did I just read “Yogi Bear 2”!? WTF
Colin

Colin,
Commerce, my friend. Pretty soon you might also be reading the words “Magilla Gorilla”. You didn’t hear it from me.

Hey mate,
Hope you’re on the mend. I hear you’ve been very, very sick; lots of rumours going around that you’re bad? We need you to stick around for a while yet? Also, know much about the Kevin James MMA film?
Bryce

Bryce,
Surely someone else can rip to shreds the new next Kate Hudson flick? Can’t I just die in peace? But thanks, on the mend; Kevin James’ “Here comes the Boom”, which is about a music teacher who enters a martial arts competition to fund the school music program, starts filming shortly. I know the big finale is set in Vegas, presumably at some big martial-arts tournament.

Hey Clint,
Do you have anything on “Die Hard 5”?
GeForce

GeForce,
Only that it’s definitely happening and location scouts have been checking out Puerto Rico. No idea of the who’s and what’s of the film though.

Hey,
was Kevin Bacon the first choice for Sebastian Shaw in “X-Men : First Class”?
No Name Supplied

Oh nameless one,
I believe he was; there was talk of Colin Firth there for a while but I think they ultimately went for Bacon because he seemed a more credible villain; we all know Mr Darcy is a friggin’ sweetheart.

Hey,
Where’s your manners gone fuckers!! “HANGOVER 2” was good!!!

I don’t know where my manners are, but I got ya mumma’s whereabouts. Oh yeah, Oh yeah…

Pop quiz hotshot. Ha ha. Im trying to find out who did the music for “Point of no Return”, the “Nikita” remake? I really like it everytime I watch it or hear it
Leigh

Leigh,
I love that particular soundtrack myself; the end track – by Hans Zimmer – is beautiful stuff. You’ll find your answer in that statement.
