“Shooter”, the USA Network action-drama starring Ryan Phillippe, has been cancelled after three seasons.
According to Variety, low ratings – this season it’s averaging 740,000 total viewers and just under a 0.2 demo rating, down sharply from Season 2’s 1.25 mil/0.35 – led to the net deciding not to renew the series for a fourth season.
The third season currently airs Thursdays, which five episodes still to run.
Sources say that Universal Cable Productions and Paramount Television, which co-produce the series, are said to be shopping the show elsewhere. Discussions are said to be underway at Paramount Network, but a source with knowledge of the situation said that it is unlikely to land there.
“Shooter” is based on the Stephen Hunter book and consequent feature film, which starred Mark Wahlberg.
