Elizabeth Banks to be a Queen for a Day

Paramount Pictures is currently working on “Queen for a Day”, a film based on the Chris Lee Daily Beast story “When Prince Made a Chambermaid His Queen for a Day”. Elizabeth Banks will star in the flick, as well as produce alongside Max Handelman, Josh Stolberg and David Klawans.

Flora Gleeson is set to rewrite a first draft from Stolberg, which is a story based on a 1986 contest by Warner Bros to put Prince’s “Under the Cherry Moon” into the spotlight. Chaos ensued with the “Win a Date With Prince” competition, in which the 10,000th caller would win not only a date with the Rockstar, but a premiere of his film in the winner’s hometown and a headlining concert of Prince and The Revolution.

Winner Lisa Barber was a cleaner for hotels, and a big Motley Crue fan. Deadline reports that the film is inspired by an article about the Cinderella story date, but the movie will be about how the event changed the lives of two very different women – the Manhattan PR exec responsible for the event’s success and the shy, awkward contest winner from Wyoming, whose town becomes the unexpected nexus of all things Prince for one unforgettable night.

Prince won’t be played by an actor, but his presence will be throughout the film, and the movie will moreso focus on the organizing of the event.

Bam! You’re Dead! Shooter cancelled!
