Billy from Melrose meet Gracie of Jersey

If the Shue fits

The big Andrew Shue (Yep, Billy from ‘Melrose Place’) comeback film – I kid you not, there’s genuine buzz surrounding it – “Gracie”, has found its female lead.

Carly Schroeder, last seen playing Harrison Ford’s daughter in “Firewall”, has been cast as the title character.

The film, an uplifting family effort about a young female soccer player, takes place in the late 1970s. Moved by a personal tragedy, Gracie struggles to show her community that girls can compete with boys. Although the adults in her life make things difficult at times, Gracie relies on her closest relationships to find success in a way that she never expected.

Granted, the film will also star Elisabeth Shue, Andy’s slightly more famous – not to mention bankable – sister, which might explain the interest in the title. (Not that there’s never been interest in Shue – besides his bit-role in “The Rainmaker” with Matt Damon, he was actually being considered for the lead in a big Joel Silver action movie, a few years back, I kid you not. Someone apparently envisioned him as the next Bruno Willis). The film is actually based, loosely, on Elisabeth Shue’s younger years.

In the film, Andrew Shue will play Gracie’s coach, whilst Elisabeth Shue will play Lindsay Bowen, Gracie’s mother.

“Gracie”, financed by Picturehouse, will shoot at the end of the Summer in New Jersey with Davis (Mr Elisabeth Shue) Guggenheim at the helm.
