Ahead of the season 1 finale this week, Apple TV+  has announced an early season two renewal of “The Afterparty,” the broadly acclaimed and hit murder-mystery comedy series from Academy Award, BAFTA and Golden Globe Award winners Chris Miller and Phil Lord, and TriStar TV and Sony Pictures Television. The news arrives ahead of the eagerly anticipated season one finale, which will premiere globally this Friday, March 4, on Apple TV+.

 

Musician Jack Harlow will play the Woody Harrelson role in a remake of “White Men Can’t Jump”. Calmatic, the upcoming “House Party” director, helms from a script by Kenya Barris and Doug Hall. [More…]

 

Netflix is making a feature film version of Chris Leslie-Hynan’s novel “Ride Around Shinin”. Rodney Barnes will produce with Jonah Hill producing. Matt Reeves says there’s definitely a possibility that characters from “The Batman” will appear in the Colin Farrell-starring HBO Max series that features his Penguin character. Reeves says the reason he decided to tackle “The Penguin” series was because “There’s a great Penguin story that’s an American Dream-Scarface story of a guy who is underestimated; how nobody thinks he’s capable of doing anything, who believes in himself with a visceral violence.” [More…]

Doug Ellin’s “Entourage” follow-up will be titled “Ramble On”. In it, Charlie Sheen, Kevin Connolly and Kevin McConnolly will play themselves in a drama “about Hollywood veterans looking to reinvent their voices alongside up and comers looking to establish their own.” Also onboard are Martin Sheen, Kimiko Glenn, Bre-Z, John C. McGinley, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Zulay Henao, Mark Cuban, James Hiroyuki Liao, Harvey Guillén, Ana Ortiz, Sara Sanderson, Mikaela Hoover and Adam Waheed with a guest appearance by Entourage alum Emmanuelle Chriqui. Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black’s “Parker” film adaptation has added “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” producer Joel Silver to its creative team. The plan is to do a series of films and TV projects based on the character, introduced in the ’60s in Donald E.Westlake’s novels, to be portrayed by Downey. The first project emerging from the deal will be the film “Play Dirty”, in which we’re introduced to a “professional thief who approaches his job with a straightforward, no-nonsense work ethic. He’s a craftsman. He’s brutal, brilliant. He’s also deadly. He’s whatever it takes to get the money and get away clean.” [More…]

 

Australian soap “Neighbours”, which introduced the world to budding stars Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, and Peter O’Brien has been axed after Network 10 failed to find another co-financer.
