A couple of days ago, “Superman Returns” director Bryan Singer revealed that plans for an “Excalibur” movie were dead and instead, the director would be focusing his energy on getting that controversial big-screen version of the 1978 TV series – and more recent remake over at SyFy – “Battlestar Galactica” going.
Well, if you’ve been biting your nails wanting to hear more about the development about the film ever since that news broke, your wait is over.
Deadline reports that Universal Pictures is closing a deal with “Anonymous” scribe John Orloff to write the Number Six-less “Battlestar Galactica”.
“I have wanted to write this movie since I was 12 years old, and built a Galactica model from scratch out of balsa wood, cardboard, old model parts and LEDs,” Orloff told Deadline. “I love BSG, and I would pass on the job rather than frak it up.”
Orloff recently penned and executive produced Warner Bros.’ “Anonymous”, wrote the script for Angelina Jolie’s “A Mighty Heart” and also wrote the script for “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole”.
Great to know the only experience you need when writing a “BSG” movie is the ability to build a model of the ship out of an old, wet box.
