Fathom apparently have Lucas Black – looking a little older these days, not surprisingly – interested in reprising his role as Caleb for the “American Gothic” movie. All I can say is – Quick, get going, cos the kid’s getting bigger – yes, literally and career-wise – by the day. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black will play Winchell, the quarterback, in Universal Pictures’ football drama “Friday Night Lights” for director Peter Berg. Billy Bob Thornton is toplining the film, which is based on the book "Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team and a Dream," by H.G. Bissinger. It chronicles the 1988 football season of the Odessa (Texas) Permian High Panthers, capturing the struggles and hopes of a financially troubled town that pins all of its dreams on the team’s Friday night games. The movie will be shot in and around Odessa early next year. Australian actor Ryan Kwanten [ex-Home and Away] is also said to be up for a role.
