Carey Mulligan to Go Inside Llewyn Davis

Looks like Carey Mulligan will be starting off 2012 just right and continue to keep herself a busy bee. After coming off the successful film “Drive” with co-star Ryan Gosling, Variety is reporting that Mulligan has landed the female lead in the Coen Brothers next film”Inside Llewyn Davis” and entering negotiations for a lead role in an untitled project for Spike Jonze.

In “Inside Llewyn Davis,” Mulligan will star opposite Oscar Isaac in the Scott Rudin-produced pic that the Coens are writing, directing and producing with Scott Rudin. Story follows a musician who tries to make it in the New York music scene in the 1960s.

As for the untitled Spike Jonze film, not much is known except that it’ll follow world leaders uniting to discuss cataclysmic events with Mulligan joining Joaquin Phoenix with Charlie Kaufman penning the script.

Mulligan is currently shooting “The Great Gatsby” for Warner Bros.; the plan is to jump into “Inside Llewyn Davis” in February, with the Spike Jonze pic in spring.
