“Avengers : Age of Ultron” star Linda Cardellini is set to co-star in “The Founder”, the biopic about the man (played by Michael Keaton) behind fast food giant McDonald’s. She will play Joan, the third wife of Ray Kroc, the Illinois salesman who turned the McDonald brothers’ drive-through business into a national franchise. When she met Kroc, Joan was the attractive wife of a successful restaurant owner in Minneapolis who represented greener pastures. (Deadline)

Gbenga Akinnagbe (“The Following”) has joined the cast of Fox’s “Independence Day 2”. He will play Agent Travis, a Secret Service agent detailed to former President Whitmore (Bill Pullman). (Deadline)

“Scrubs” alum John C.McGinley is set for “Rounding Third”, a tale of ”baseball and fatherhood” from producer Fred Roos and tyro directing duo Roger Deaton and George Flanigen. The film centers on Don (McGinley), a win-at-all-costs coach of a kids baseball on which his son plays. The veteran butts heads with his new assistant coach as the pair have very different personal circumstances and philosophies about the game and how to motivate their team. Richard Desser, who wrote the play, is adapting for the screen. (Deadline)

Charlie Day (“Vacation”) and Ice Cube will smash fists for “Fist Fight” at New Line. The comedy, in the vein of ’80s comedy “Three O’Clock High”, sees Day play a mild-mannered English teacher who is put to the test when a colleague (Cube) who thinks he is trying to get him fired challenges him to a fist fight after school. The studio is currently meeting with directors.
