Bill Hader (“Adventureland”) will star in “Lawless”, an indie comedy being produced by Mike White and David Bernad via their RipCord Productions.Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, who wrote the script, make their feature directorial debuts on the picture. ”The story centers on a high school reunion committee chairman in Middle America, still searching for acceptance, who has to do whatever it takes to get the most popular guy from high school to show up to their 20th reunion. Unfortunately, that guy is now an actor in commercials, so the committee chairman flies to L.A. and finds himself in the arcane world of celebrities.” A Summer shoot in Atlanta is being eyed. “True Grit” star Hailee Steinfeld will star opposite Sam Worthington in “For The Dogs”, an Oren Moverman-scripted flick that “centers on a solitary assassin (Worthington) who agrees to help a precocious teenager (Steinfeld) exact revenge on those who murdered her parents and younger brother. His guidance unleashes events that ultimately stoke her thirst for vengeance while he desperately seeks peace and absolution.” (Deadline)

Frank Oz will direct Billy Crystal in “Winter’s Disconnect”, an adult comedy starring the legendary funnyman as “a widower who moves into a reputed, active mature community in an attempt to reinvigorate his sex life.” Producer Chuck Roven said, “We’re thrilled by the way this project is coming together. We are big believers in the humor and the emotion in this story and we think that Frank and Billy have a terrific take on the material that will connect with audiences everywhere.” (Deadline)

Former “The OC” star Adam Brody has joined the cast of Screen Gems’ “Think Like a Man Too”. “His character Isaac is a former frat brother of Kevin Hart’s Cedric who shows up and, to everyone’s surprise, is white. The movie, like the first 2012 Screen Gems film, is based on Steve Harvey’s bestselling relationships book Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man. ” (Deadline)

Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan, and David Thewlis are set to lend their voices to the film version of stage play “Anomalisa”, which Charlie Kaufman will co-direct with Duke Johnson. “The film follows Michael, a man who is struggling with his inability to connect with people. “Shameless” star Jeremy Allen White will star in the new found-footage project “Glimmer” for Dreamworks. The film “revolves around a group of teenagers that takes a camping trip to investigate a series of missing persons. The teens end up discovering a portal that takes them back in time and traps them during the 1970s. Former “Smallville” star Tom Welling has joined the cast of Kevin Costner’s next “Draft Day”. ”Welling will play Brian Drew, a veteran quarterback in the crossroads of his career, in the story about a Cleveland Browns GM (Costner) who attempts to trade up for the first pick in the NFL Draft and save football in the city.” Ivan Reitman directs.
