Comic-Con : Captain Marvel details

Last year’s Comic-Con brought the news that Brie Larson had been cast in the role of Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, as the first solo-female film for the Marvel universe. Since then, directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have been confirmed, as well as the script being written by Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve. There was also speculation of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury to fight alongside Danvers.

This year’s panel brought more “Captain Marvel” news, with Marvel’s Kevin Feige making some big announcements about the upcoming film. Firstly, the film will be set in the 1990s, taking us back 20 years, but also to a time when Nick Fury had two working eyes. Yes, it has been confirmed that Jackson is back with Fury. The character has been in a bunch of Marvel movies, including the “Avengers” films , “Iron Man” and “Thor”. Danvers will be battling shape-shifting aliens called Skrulls.  The concept art of the Skrulls and Captain Marvel has been doing the rounds, check out ScreenRants tweet below.

The jump back in time allows “Captain Marvel” to provide an origin story for both Danvers and Fury- perhaps we’ll even get to see the losing of the eye. It’s also the first time Skrulls will be seen on the big screen. “Captain Marvel” is hitting cinemas March 8, 2019.
