Cuba Gooding Jr Guilty of heading to TV in an effort to save career

Hoping it might resuscitate his drowning career, fallen Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr is headed to TV.

Gooding Jr, who won a statue for his role in “Jerry Maguire” before making some piss-poor decisions that led to him becoming Blockbuster video’s favourite whipping boy, will star in a new drama series from “Everwood” alum Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim (writer of RDJ’s “Perry Mason” movie).

The Hollywood Reporter says “Guilty” will see the actor play “William “Billy” Remz (Gooding), an ethically questionable defense attorney who has been stripped of his license to practice law after being falsely convicted of fraud. He uses unorthodox techniques to solve cases he’s been banned from handling — and exacts revenge upon those who set him up.”

Eva Amurri Martino (“Californication”) and Julian Morris (“Sorority Row”) are also onboard the pilot.

Gooding Jr’s most recent credits include the George Lucas-produced “Red Tails”, “Sacrifice”, “Ticking Clock”, “The Hit List” and “Hardwired”.
