Dean Morgan is Powers Boothe!

Though it would seem the producers of the upcoming “Red Dawn” remake were originally after Kurt Russell for the role of the pilot that crash-lands and helps the ‘Wolverine’s’, MGM has landed a just as fine (if not quite as legendary) actor for the part. And chances are, he’s a tad bit cheaper too.

Cigar-chompin’ “Watchmen” star Jeffrey Dean Morgan tells Coming Soon he’s playing the role Powers Boothe played in the classic 1984 film.

“There’s all the kids and Powers Boothe is the pilot that lands in the film and kind of helps them take down the bad guys”, says the actor.”Blow communism away. It’s a really good, young cast. I’ll be the old guy in it, which is cool.”

Meanwhile, comic-book lovin’ Dean-Morgan also tells the site that he’d love to play comic-book character ‘Lobo’ in the film version that Guy Ritchie has just signed on to direct. The actor, whose already done two comic-book movies (“Watchmen” and the upcoming “The Losers”), also told us earlier in the year that he’d love to don the Cowl and play Frank Miller’s incarnation of the Caped Crusader in “The Dark Knight Returns” – should it ever be made into a movie.
