Ed Harris is off to Westworld

The unyieldingly-versatile Ed Harris (“The Truman Show”, “Pain & Gain”) has joined the cast of HBO’s “Westworld”.

Inspired by the Michael Crichton-directed 1973 movie, the drama is billed as ”a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harris will play ”The Man in Black, described as the distillation of pure villainy into one man.”

“Westworld” has rounded up a terrific cast, which also includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, James Marsden, and Kyle Bornheimer.

Jonathan Nolan directs the pilot.

Harris has worked with HBO before, on both “Empire Falls” and “Game Change”.
