Sony has redated Brad Pitt’s World War II drama “Fury” and Adam Sandler comedy “Pixels”.
Pitt’s “Fury” has been moved up from November 14 to October 17 while Sandler’s “Pixels” has been pushed back two months to July 24, 2015 from an original date of May 15, 2015.
“Fury” has taken the place of Seth Rogen/James Franco comedy “The Interview” which was recently moved to Christmas Day.
Director David Ayer penned the “Fury” script which sees a tank battalion, led by Pitt’s character, forced to make a last stand against the Nazis behind enemy lines. Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman co-star.
The new date puts the film in the midst of the festival circuit and puts it up against “Birdman”, which opens to limited release on the same day.
As for “Pixels”, it will now open against supernatural thriller “Poltergeist” and Judd Apatow’s comedy “Trainwreck”.
In “Pixels”, a group of aliens misinterpret video-feeds of arcade games as a declaration of war against them, prompting an assault on earth. Sandler’s character is enlisted by the president to fight the aliens with his video game skills.
