Exclusive : Ghostbuster in a Dog Fight with Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis

Word from the South is that funnyman Dan Aykroyd has joined the cast of director Jay Roach’s “Dog Fight”, currently shooting in New Orleans.

Aykroyd is the third “Saturday Night Live” alum to join the cast of the film, a comedy about two rival South Carolina politicians (Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis) with presidential aspirations tangle with one another. Ferrell and Jason Sudeikis are the other comics formerly housed at the 30 Rock address who star alongside the “Ghostbusters” and “Blues Brother” fave in the pic.

Aykroyd’s an old-hand at mimicking a Southerner, he was terrific as Jessica Tandy’s son in “Driving Miss Daisy” and recently wore the Southerner guise as President Jimmy Carter in Funny or Die’s ‘Presidential Reunion’ Sketch. The actor and writer, currently trying to push “Ghostbusters 3” uphill, is also a regular down in New Orleans, as the owner of the House of Blues restaurant chain; Aykroyd also went down to New Orleans to help with the clean-up after Hurricane Katrina.

“Dog Fight”, which also features the likes of John Lithgow, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox, Josh Lawson, Gary Grubbs and P.J Byrne, is due for release next August.
