Exclusive : New Character deets for Oz and Bourne Legacy

A casting call has gone out for a young actor, around the age of 10, to play the young ‘Oz’ in Sam Raimi’s “Oz : The Great and Powerful”.

The news confirms that we’ll be learning quite a bit about ‘Oz’, or ‘Oscar’ as he’s Christened, before he lands in the magical land that he ultimately lends his name to; in particular, we’ll be seeing quite a bit of Oscar’s childhood.

Disney are beseeching someone that obviously looks like James Franco… twenty-years ago… to play “a rambunctious young man in 1880 Kansas. He is part magician, part inventor and all showman. He is an adventurer at heart who loves his family and is particularly smitten with his neighbor, Annie.”

The film, shooting in Detroit this month, stars Franco as the “young illusionist with a grandiose attitude who is forced to flee a traveling circus. His hot air balloon is swept up by a tornado to the land of Oz, which is run by two magical wicked witches (Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis)”. Michelle Williams and Zach Braff are also onboard the project.

Meanwhile, Universal are on the hunt for an ‘Aussie’ (or someone that can do a spot-on Australian accent) to play a lead character in director Tony Gilroy’s “The Bourne Legacy“.

‘Mackie’ is said to be in his ’40s and is “a big tan Australian” that “manages a large facility in Asia”.

Seems the film will be filming quite a bit in Asia, with casting agents also on the hunt for a few burly guys to play Mackie’s ‘guards’ at the facility (a facility that ‘Bourne’, played by Jeremy Renner, seemingly breaks into?).

Please do not contact me regarding these auditions, I don’t have any other information on them – we report the news, not manage acting careers.
