Fassbender, Boyle teaming for Trances

Michael Fassbender’s ostensibly more popular than an accountant in June. The “Inglourious Basterds” actor, who has since tied up plum parts in “X-Men : First Class” and the Alien prequel “Prometheus”, is checking his calendar for blank spots to see if he can’t fit a new Danny Boyle flick in. According to THR, Fassbender is in talks for Boyle’s “Trances”.

The pic is remake of a 2003 British movie directed by Joe Ahearne and centers on an art heist. An assistant at an auction house masterminds the heist and teams up with a gang of thieves, but suffers a blow to the head and wakes up with amnesia. He is the only one who knows where the painting’s location is and after his continued failure to remember, the gang begins to suspect duplicity on his part and hire a female hypnotist to get into his brain.

Fassbender would play the gang leader.

“Slumdog Millionaire” director Boyle plans to shoot the film this Fall, so expect a deal to be made with Fassbender fairly quickly.
