Sheesh, the long-rumoured possibility of Keanu Reeves starring in an “Akira” movie may have just jumped the white line into ‘happening’ territory. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves has met with director Albert Hughes to discuss the possibility of having gangleader Kanera having the same face as ‘Neo’.
Reeves is merely the latest in a long line of actors who have met for the film.
Though the original “Akira” manga is set in Neon-Tokyo, the new film would take place in New Manhattan, where a biker gang leader (Reeves) tries to save his best friend from a medical experiment that threatens to unleash destructive powers.
The role of Tetsuo, the chap that undergoes the transformation, will also likely be filled by an A-lister – Robert Pattinson has always been the frontrunner for the part.
