Finally! McDonald’s movie in the works

“Blind Side” director John Lee Hancock is set to direct “The Founder”, the story of the three men who built the inestimably priced fast food juggernaut McDonalds.

FilmNation and The Combine, the shingle run by Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield, are producing. Robert Siegel (“Big Fan”) is writing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself in a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire.”

The trade says the film’s tone is reminiscent of “There Will be Blood” and “The Social Network”.

Hancock’s last film, also a biopic, was Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks”.
