Glee actor is creator, writer of new Bill Cosby show

“Glee” actor Mike O’Malley is one of the creative forces behind the new Bill Cosby comedy set-up at NBC.

At this weekend’s TCA upfronts, it was revealed that the Cosby comeback sitcom was to be created by Sikowitz and O’Malley, who may also co-star. O’Malley will be writing the show, with Sikowitz (“The McCarthys”) supervising, according to Deadline.

Like Cosby’s previous shows, the untitled sitcom is said to be a “mutli-generational family show”.

“Bill plays the patriarch of the family, dispensing his classic wisdom on relationships and parenthood, with three daughters, husbands and grandchildren,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said. “It’s a classic big extended family sitcom.”

O’Malley will likely play one of the husbands.

The, er Cosby show is eyed for a Summer 2015 or Fall 2015 launch.
