Greengrass’s Elliot Ness pic has been canned

“Ness”, the Elliot Ness biopic that Paul Greengrass was set to direct for Paramount, has been canned.

Previously known as “Torso”, the film would’ve focused on the 1930’s murder cases. It was based on the graphic novel “Torso” and the last script hailed from Oscar nominee Brian Helgeland.

According to Deadline, some pretty significant creative differences – apparently the script didn’t end up resembling the source material – got in the way and the studio decided to axe the project.

This is the second time a film adaptation of “Torso” has collapsed with the studio developing this property in 2008 as a vehicle for David Fincher. That too fell apart because of creative differences.
