UPDATED! James Gunn’s Suicide Squad gets its King Shark?

Update! : According to Rooker, he is not playing King Shark in Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad”, let alone a part of the film

Word is that “Guardians of the Galaxy” favourite Michael Rooker is set to join the cast of James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” as King Shark! While it is being referred to as a sequel, Gunn – who wrote the script – has previously mentioned it will have a completely new take on the property, in which DC supervillains are recruited by the government to carry out secret missions too dirty for the likes of Superman and Batman.

Per The Wrap, the supervillain King Shark is a humanoid shark and the son of Chondrakha, the God of all Sharks. Introduced as a Superboy villain, King Shark has been a member of the Secret Six, the Secret Society of Super-Villains and the Suicide Squad.

Rooker is a regular in Gunn’s films, appearing in all “Guardians of the Galaxy” movies, and “The Belko Experiment” and “Brightburn” which Gunn produced.

Starring in the upcoming sequel include Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher, newies John Cena and Idris Elba, with series staple Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn as well as Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.

“The Suicide Squad” is set for release August 6, 2021.
