Jared Leto to make his feature directorial debut with 77

He’s helmed a doco, a series and a bunch of music videos (the latter under the alias Bartholomew Cubbins) and now Jared Leto is making his feature directorial debut with Paramount’s crime thriller “77”.

Leto will direct from a script by David Matthews from an original screenplay by author James Ellroy.

According to THR, the film is set in politically charged 1974 Los Angeles and centers around two police officers who team up to recover kidnapped heiress Patty Hearst while simultaneously investigating the brutal murder of a fellow officer. They uncover not only relentless corruption and crime, but a dark and violent conspiracy as well.

Dick Wolf and Tony Ganz of Wolf Films are producing with Leto. Emma Ludbrook is exec producing via Paradox.

Outlander returns this September!
