The Last Jedi : New story rumours, Casting update

New rumours for this Christmas’s “Star Wars : The Last Jedi” with the oft-reliable MakingStarWars.net shedding light on Finn’s mission in the film, as well as a potential cameo.

First up, the site reports on the baddie’s choice of transportation in the movie – a new Super Star Destroyer. That’s where Finn (John Boyega) will find himself at some point during the movie.

In Star Wars: The Last Jedi there is going to be a First Order Super Star Destroyer. However, it isn’t like the ones we saw during the Empire’s era. The First Order Super Star Destroyer is huge, yes, but is just a triangle-shaped wedge. The classic Super Star Destroyer was a wedge with a city built on it in no uncertain terms. This is just a gigantic huge wedge, solid, and dark. I speculate this is the main command ship of the First Order in The Last Jedi. It appears Finn will end up on this ship as part of his mission.

Further, the site reports that Finn could be teaming with Kelly Marie Tran‘s character to plant explosives on the First order Super Star Destroyer.

The site also suggests that there’ll be another ‘Big-star in Stormtrooper outfit’ cameo (like in “The Force Awakens” where Daniel Craig did an in-helmet guestie) in the movie. This time around, Christopher Nolan-regular Tom Hardy will be playing A-list trooper.

In other “Last Jedi” casting news, it was revealed this week that Jimmy Vee will stepping into the robotic hub of R2-D2, replacing the late Kenny Baker.

Vee, who worked alongside Baker on “The Force Awakens”, said “It’s been an absolute pleasure to have worked alongside the legendary Kenny Baker. Kenny was a fantastic actor and taught me all the ‘tricks’ on how he brought R2-D2 to life which I will continue to portray in his honor. I’m so excited to be a part of the Star Wars universe and can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been working so hard on for the last year.”
