Jay Roach to direct Bryan Cranston in LBJ biopic

Jay Roach will direct Bryan Cranston in HBO’s LBJ biopic.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Roach is attached to helm the small screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning play “All The Way” in which Cranston starred as President Lyndon B. Johnson.

The actor won a Tony Award for the role which he will reprise for the film.

Focusing on the President’s first year in office, “All The Way” sees him take the oath in the wake of President Kennedy’s assassination, navigate the escalation of the Vietnam War and balance opposing interests to launch his landmark civil rights bill and win election to his first full presidential term.

Robert Schenkkan will adapt the script.

Amblin Television, Tale Told Productions and Moon Shot Entertainment will produce. Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey will exec produce with Schenkkan and Cranston, and James Degus co-exec producing.
