Jennifer Connelly joins James Cameron’s Alita: Battle Angel

Jennifer Connelly is the latest addition to the cast of James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s manga adaptation “Alita: Battle Angel”.

Set in the 26th century, “Alita” centres on a female cyborg (Rosa Salazar) that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals. The action-adventure story is meant to serve as a backdrop to themes of self-discovery and the search for love.

We don’t have many details on Connelly’s character yet, but according to THR she’s set to play a villain.

Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali and Ed Skrein are also in the cast. Rodriguez is directing the film, with production currently underway in Texas. Cameron and his Lightstorm Entertainment partner Jon Landau are producing.
