Live-action Robin Hood coming to Disney+

The next remake in the works is the 1973 animated classic “Robin Hood”. Carlos Lopez Estrada (director of 2018’s “Blindspotting”) has been tapped to direct the project, and Kari Granlund – who recently penned the remake to “Lady and the Tramp” – will be writing the script.

The live-action remake will be developed for streaming service Disney+.

“Robin Hood” was a comedic and musical take on the famous tale, with anthropomorphic animals inhabiting the roles of the characters made famous over the centuries. Hood was a fox; Little John, a bear; Friar Tuck, a badger; Prince John, a thumb-sucking lion; the sheriff of Nottingham, a wolf; and Maid Marian, a vixen.

“Robin Hood” has had countless numbers of adaptations over the years, but this latest live-action remake is said to be a musical and again will feature the characters as anthropomorphic, this time in a live-action/CG hybrid format, as reported on THR.

The project is still in early development – so stay tuned!
