Live Free or Die Hairy; Bomback onboard Wolverine

Mark Bomback, the dude who wrote the ”Total Recall” remake which is set to star Colin Farrell and also wrote ”Live Free or Die Hard”, has been tapped to re-write the script for James Mangold’s ”The Wolverine”.

According to Variety, Bomback had been called in to rewrite the original script which was written by Christopher McQuarrie.

Jackman will be reprising his role from the ”X-Men” movies as the title character, Wolverine. The film, a sequel to 2009′s ”X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is said to have a heavy focus on Japan, inspired by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont’s 1982 miniseries.

The film will find Wolverine suffering from amnesia and searching for answers about his past in the Japanese criminal underworld where he finds both love and tragedy. The entire cast will be comprised of Japanese and Japanese-American actors except for a newly-expanded character named Viper, who’s the Caucasian secretary for Japan’s Minister of Justice.

No start date for filming has been announced except for the fact that there’s a possibility it could begin filming in the spring.
