Twilight alum Kendrick sinks her teeth into Pitch Perfect

No, this movie is not about baseball….

After starring alongside George Clooney in 2009′s ”Up in the Air” and playing Michael Cera’s sister in last year’s ”Scott Pilgrim Vs the World”, “Twilight” alum Anna Kendrick is set to star in her first romantic comedy revolving acapella students.

Now before you roll your eyes at the idea of the film, know that Kendrick can sing. She starred in 2003′s ”Camp” and has sung on Broadway so the girl has some pipes. If you’ve never heard her sing, I suggest Youtube’ing a video or two of her singing.

Anyway, THR reports that the film follows around a goth-like and rebellious student (Kendrick), unhappy to be at a school at which her father is a professor, who discovers her voice and becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group.

Rebel Wilson, who played Kristen Wiig’s hilarious roommate in ”Bridesmaids” is already attached to the project.

Based on the nonfiction book by GQ mag writer Mickey Rapkin, the film will be directed by Jason Moore, marking his directorial film debut. Moore’s directorial credits are mostly a few episodes including such shows like an episode of ”One Tree Hill”, two episodes from ”Dawson’s Creek” and ”Brothers and Sisters”. Moore did however receive a Tony nomination in 2004 for best director for his work on the musical Avenue Q.

Shooting is set to begin in New Orleans in the fall.

Kendrick will next be seen in the cancer comedy ”50/50” and ”Breaking Dawn: Part 1”.
