Marco! Polo! Fast and the Furious director gets all historical!

Action-movie director Rob Cohen, who continuously tries to move on from the “xXx” and “Stealth”-like films he’s known for (but is pulled back in, a’la “Godfather Part III”), keeps on with his plight to do something more meaningful.

Cohen has been tapped by Paramount and the China Film Corp to helm their ostensibly expensive retelling of ‘Marco Polo’. The announcement was made at a presser in Beijing, where it was noted the union between Hollywood and the Chinese on the project is the most ambitious of it’s kind.

The filmmaker, whose other credits include such popcorn pleasers like “The Fast and the Furious”, “Alex Cross” and “Dragon : The Bruce Lee Story”, also recently announced his intention to get a film on Sir Isaac Newton off the ground.
