Marvel duo nab He-Man movie

“Iron Man” and “Punisher : War Zone” scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway have been tapped to rewrite the long, long, long gestating big screen update of “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”.

The film, which has been through many a director, writer and even studio, is now housed with Sony. Aaron and Adam Nee are currently attached to direct a film that, if Marcum & Holloway’s past work is an indicator, will be a fairly light hearted, effectsy action-adventure movie. The duo are best known for their work on “Iron Man” and “Transformers : The Last Knight”, which suggests they’ve been hired to pen a film with a similar tone and cool factor.

“Blade” alum David S.Goyer wrote the previous draft of the script for the movie, based on the top-selling toyline from Mattel.

Sony still has the film on the calendar for December of this year but considering the film hasn’t even entered production yet I wouldn’t expect it to release until 2020 at the earliest, so expect the studio to announce a new date shortly.
