Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti will produce “Fifty Shades of Grey,” the bigscreen adaptation of E.L. James’ bestselling erotic novel.

Chris Cooper helps fill “August”

Chris Cooper, last seen as the evil Tex Richmond in “The Muppets”, will play a part in the slightly more serious, “August: Osage County” with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.

“Dexter” Season 7 Promo

Ahead of this week’s “Dexter” panel at Comic-Con, where it’ll probably be screened again (though I assume a longer version), here’s a rather awkwardly sexy promo for the new season of TV’s acclaimed “Dexter”.

Sean Durkin (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”) will direct “Joplin”, which takes a look at how the late musician spent the last six months of her life.

“Goats” trailer; features David Duchovny and Vera Farmiga

The first trailer for Christopher Neil’s indie comedy, featuring the likes of “X-Files” alum Duchovny and “Departed” actress Farmiga, has leaked.

The film was screened at Sundance earlier this year.

“Darkness” from “Die Hard” director

Len Wiseman looks to produce a film based on the comic “The Darkness”. Collider says, “Sources tell us that Regency is nearing a deal to obtain the feature film rights to the comic with producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman (The Fighter, The Muppets). Moreover, Total Recall director and “godfather” of the Underworld series Len Wiseman would produce the film. Mandeville’s David Manpearl will also be involved and Top Cow’s Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins will be Executive Producing. Created by David Wohl, Marc Silvestri, and Garth Ennis, the mythologically dense comic first appeared in 1996 and centers on an ageless power called “The Darkness.” The primordial force has been at war with its equal and opposite, The Angelus, since creation, and takes root in male hosts. Awakened at the host’s 21st birthday, The Darkness allows its host to create and control anything he desires, including sentient beings.”

Anthony Hopkins joins the cast of “Noah”

Keri Russell a lock for “Dark Skies”

The trades have confirmed Bloody Disgusting’s earlier report that former “Felicity” star Keri Russell will star in “Dark Skies”, an independent horror movie from Scott Stewart.

The aforesaid site added today that, “..we’ve also exclusively learned that the horror flick focuses on a 6-year-old boy who’s apparently been “marked” by an alien (living among us) for future abduction. It looks like it taps into some of the same themes of Fright Night, while also playing into child abuse (did the parents cause these marks on the child’s body?)”

“Grown Ups 2” adds Schwarzenegger

Patrick Schwarzenegger that is. The son of “Terminator” star Arnold will play a fraternity brother, playing opposite Taylor Lautner, in the Adam Sandler-starring/produced sequel “Grown Ups 2”.

Schwarzenegger is currently dating Taylor Swift, ex-girlfriend of Lautner… should make for some interesting chats on-set.

“40 Days and 40 Nights” actress joins racy series “Mistresses”

“Mistresses” is “described as a provocative and thrilling drama about the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of four girlfriends, each on her own path to self-discovery, as they brave the turbulent journey together.”

Roach to direct Cold War thriller

“Game Change” and “Austin Powers” helmer Jay Roach will direct the Cold War-era project ”K Blows Top” for HBO Films.

“K Blows Top chronicles Nikita Khrushchev’s 13-day American sojourn in September 1959, a time when Cold War tensions between the world superpowers were running high. Paul Giamatti is on board to play the Soviet leader.”

“Rocketeer” is playing Abe Lincoln

Billy Campbell (“The Rocketeer”, “The Killing”, “Enough”) will play Abraham Lincoln in National Geographic Channel‘s ”Killing Lincoln”, the two-hour docu-drama based on Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard’s book ”that chronicles the conspiracy behind Lincoln’s assassination”.

Ridley and Tony Scott are executive producers on the project.
