Michael Chiklis and Forest Whitaker Take Pawn

Still yearning for the days of TV’s “The Shield” after it ended in 2008? Well, you’re in luck. No, a movie isn’t about to be released within the next months, at least not for the time being anyway, but two of the show’s co-stars are going to star in a film together.

Yup. Deadline is reporting that “Shield” co-stars Michael Chiklis (“Fantastic Four” franchise) and Forest Whitaker (“The Last King of Scotland”) will re-team to star in the indie crime film “Pawn”.

Also set to star rapper/actor Common (currently on AMC’s “Hell On Wheels”) and Ray Liotta, the film will center around a hostage situation that has gone terribly wrong. Further details reveal that it’ll be about an ex-con who becomes entangled in a manipulative chess game between the Feds, local police and the mob.

David A. Armstrong will mark his directorial debut with the film, while Chiklis will produce the film with his production company Extravaganza Films. Jay Anthony White wrote the script with filming set to begin on December 1.

“Pawn” will be released sometime in 2013 and also co-stars Nikki Reed (“Twilight” franchise), Stephen Lang and Sean Faris.
