Miller, Lawrence vying for Hunger Games job

That “Catching Fire” (the sequel to “The Hunger Games”) potential director list has been tweaked; Bennett Miller and Francis Lawrence are apparently the only two contenders for the job, according to The Playlist.

Miller, of course, is known for heavy dramas like “Capote” and “Moneyball”, while Lawrence’s fare might be seen as the opposite – splashy blockbusters, like “I am Legend” and “Constantine” (he did, however, also direct the rather intimate “Water for Elephants”). One would think Lawrence would be the more suitable.

Last week it was leaked that the studio were looking at David Cronenberg, Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for the job; these men either passed or fell off the list for another reason.
