Former “Hart of Dixie” sweethearts Jaime King and Cress Williams have had triumphant months, both scoring plum gigs with a major new film and series, respectively.
King, whose other credits include “Fanboys” and “Sin City”, will star in “How to Cook Your Daughter”, an adaptation of a memoir by Jessica Hendra and Blake Morrison. Jennifer Clary will direct the film, scheduled to begin production in November, in which King plays Hendra, the daughter of a National Lampoon editor.
Meanwhile Cress Williams, soon to be seen in Fox’s “Prison Break” revival, will play Black Lightning on The CW’s next superhero pilot. Williams’ character, a retired superhero named Jefferson Pierce, finds himself back in vigilante mode thanks to his justice-seeking daughter and the threat of a “star student being recruited by a local gang.”
