Most movies you know everything about before they’re released thanks to the marketing blitz that begins say, about 18 months earlier. Every once in a while though, albeit very rarely since 1986, a movie comes around that tells you nothing about it’s plot. “Super 8” slots comfortably into the latter category.
“Super 8” is a film that has been kept under such tight wraps that, quite frankly, it’s only making our brows drip with anticipation even more. Just love it. With J.J. Abrams directing (after the very successful reboot of “Star Trek” he can seemingly do no wrong; he also produced another rather-secretive project “Cloverfield) and Steven Spielberg producing, Paramount knows they’ve got no worries about getting bums on seats for this one – plot leak or no plot leak.
Paramount Pictures have now released the brief, but official synopsis for “Super 8”:
In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
Along with the synopsis, we’ve confirmation on who’s in the thing : Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Gabriel Basson, Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills and Amanda Michalka.
“Super 8” hits theaters June 10th.
