The Amazing Spider-Man” mightn’t be so much of a reboot after all. Marvel’s Avi Arad says the film fits in with the framework of Sam Raimi’s previous films. “It’s not a comeback,” he says. “You have to look at it this way: Do you want to know more about Spider-Man? “The Fighter” writer Scott Silver could be working on a superhero reimagining of “Samson & Delilah” for Warner Bros. [NBC]

“Mean Girls” helmer Mark Waters will remake the Lee Hae-joon-directed Korean drama ”Castaway On The Moon” [Deadline]

Patrick Wilson of “The A-Team” and “Little Children” fame will star in the new untitled Susannah Grant drama for CBS. The Jonathan ‘Philadelphia’ Demme directed pilot centers ”on an ultra-competitive surgeon (Wilson) whose life is changed forever when his ex-wife dies and begins teaching him what life is all about from the here-after”. Leelee Sobieski will star in the Robert De Niro produced drama pilot “Rookies“, about six NYPD rookies who balance their personal lives with learning the beat on the streets of Manhattan. James Mangold of 3:10 to Yuma fame is directing the pilot. [Deadline]

Channing Tatum’s Mrs Jenna Dewan-Tatum has been added to the cast of “Playboy“, the NBC drama pilot set at a 1960’s Playboy club.  Leah Renee and Amber Heard are also onboard. [Deadline]

“Hot Tub Time Machine” star Rob Corddry will star in the single-camera comedy “Little in Common“. “Thor” co-star Kat Dennings will star in the new Michael Patrick King (“Sex and the City”) series “Two Broke Girls“, it tells of two women – both poor – who meet as waiters and hatch a business plan together. [THR]

Joseph Morgan has signed on to play the evil vampire Klaus on TV’s “The Vampire Diaries“. [Rabid Doll]

As previously rumoured, Tim Allen has now officially agreed to return to TV with the starring role in ABC’s ”Last Days of Man” – which will no longer be the title. The series was to center on a guy whose world is dominated by women but apparently it’s being retooled. [Deadline]

Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson will star in the action thriller “Freelancers“, playing the son of a slain NYPD officer who joins the force and welcomed by his father’s former partner into the ranks of his vice crime task force — and on to a team of rogue Gotham cops. [Variety]

You can scratch Diane Kruger off “Superman” director Zack Snyder’s ‘Ursa’ shortlist; the actress says there was never any truth to the rumours that she was up for the part but more so she’s not interested. “What am I gonna do, you know? I guess it’s better to be associated with Superman than with…I dunno…Police Academy 10.” [Collider]
