Quick News – Ultimate Spider-Man, Pacific Rim, Daredevil, Tooth Fairy 2

Compiled by the staff at Moviehole, Quick News is an assortment of news bites and other miscellaneous items, linkage and plugs that we just couldn’t find either time or space (or both) to place as individual news items. If you’d like something included in this section email us or tweet us!

J.K Simmons will reprise his role as J.Jonah Jameson in the “Ultimate Spider-Man” animated series. Says the actor, “Yeah, I just started doing that. I don’t know when the show’s gonna be out, but yeah, J.J.J. lives on in my career at least (Laughs) for a while with the new cartoon show, yeah.” Screw you for not including this dude in the new film, Sony!

Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim” (gotta change that title; people might expect Peter North to make an appearance!) is being rewritten in the wake of the tragic Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan.

Aaron Johnson (“Kick-Ass”) is being courted for high-profile flicks “Anna Karenina” and “Savages“. Jude Law is also in talks to star in the former.

Damon Wayans Jr (“Dance Flick”) has been tapped as one of the 3 male leads in Fox’s untitled Liz Meriwether comedy pilot (aka Chicks & Dicks) while father Damon (“My Wife & Kids”) will star in a untitled sports radio show comedy pilot for CBS.

Betty Thomas (“Wayne’s World”) is in talks to directDesperados”, the Universal comedy starring Isla Fisher as ”a woman who sends an indignant email to her new beau, who has gone silent after they have sex, only to discover he’s comatose in a Mexican hospital. Panicking, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the email before he recovers.” So it’s, um, “The Hangover” with chicks instead of Coops?

Seasoned TV vet Donald Sutherland (“Commander-and-Chief”, “Dirty, Sexy Money”) is set to star in NBC’s comedy ”My Life As an Experiment”. Sutherland will play the lead character’s arrogant father-in-law. Stretch.

Samuel L Jackson is starring inThe Samaritan”, said to be “a neo-noir thriller” about ”a grifter trying to escape from his past having spent 20 years in prison”. David Weaver directs. If it makes more money than “The Avengers”, I’ll eat my hat.

Did Darren Aronofsky really leave “The Wolverine” because he didn’t want to be out of the country? Sure it wasn’t anything to do with Fox not giving the filmmaker full control over the film? hmmm?! hmmmmm!?

The popular “Boondock Saints” movies may spawn a video game.I’ve a feeling one of the characters might look a little like Young Indiana Jones.

“Nip/Tuck” star Dylan Walsh has been tapped as the male lead in CBS’ untitled Ed Redlich/John Bellucci pilot. The cop drama stars Poppy Montgomery a former detective who possesses the gift to remember everything.Sadly, there’s unlikely to be as much sex in this series as there was in Walsh’s former show.

Jimmy Smits is set to star in NBC’s Stephen Gaghan Pilot. Meanwhile the network has renewed “Community”, “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation”.

Alan Tudyk (“Dollhouse”) will play Stephen A. Douglas, Abe Lincoln’s challenger for the president’s name badge, in Fox’s “Abraham Lincoln : Vampire Hunter“.

Garrett Heldund and “Limitless” star Bradley Cooper are both rumoured to be up for the role of ‘Daredevil‘ in director David Slade’s recently-announced reboot. Expect thirty more names to surface over the weekend.

Of his role in the forthcoming “Tooth Fairy 2“, Larry the Cable Guy says “The Rock is buff and ripped, so it was funny to see him dressed like the tooth fairy. But it’s even funnier to see a fat white guy in a tutu.” Yeah…we’ll see.

Roadshow films will distribute “The Kath & Kim Filum” a big screen take on the popular ABC/Channel7 comedy series starring Jane Turner and Gina Riley as Fountain Lakes’ foxiest ‘chino’ swiggers.

Xavier Samuel (“The Twilight Saga : Eclipse”) will be a celebrity guest at the 2011 OPTUS ONE80PROJECT festival in Sydney’s Prince Alfred Park. Taking place on Sunday 20 March from 5.30pm, the free festival will screen the Top 10 finalists’ entries and feature a live DJ set by Grammy award winner Mark Ronson and live supporting sets from Bag Raiders and Softwar.

Robert De Niro says he’s somewhat interested in doing sequels to “Midnight Run“, “The Good Shepherd” and “Taxi Driver“. Sadly, no mention of a follow-up to “The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle”.

Eva Green says she’ll channel Janis Joplin and Bette Davis when she begins work on Tim Burton’s film adaptation of the classic TV series “Dark Shadows“.

Red Dog“, the Australian film starring Josh Lucas as a young man who befriends a K-9 in W.A, has been pushed back from April to August.

Filmink, one of Australia’s best movie mags, has produced it’s on App for the iPad. Boasting multi-navigational functionality, interactive photo galleries, trailers, interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes content, it’s available globally on the App Store – and you can currently buy the full March issue for the very reasonable price of $1.19. “We are incredibly excited to have launched the FILMINK App for iPad,” said FILMINK publisher Dov Kornits. “We went out at $7.99, and with only a few days to go before we upload a new issue, we want as many people as possible to sample the full product so that they can get addicted to enjoying FILMINK on the iPad. It’s got great video content, interactivity, animation and I couldn’t be prouder.”
