Reboot Alert : The Bodyguard, Flight of the Navigator

A 90’s and ’80s classic, respectively, getting the do-over treatment

Matthew López, writer of stage hit “The Inheritance”, has been tapped to write a remake of 1992’s “The Bodyguard” at Warner Bros.

Kevin Costner had hoped to make a sequel to the hit film – in which he co-starred with Whitney Houston – but shelved plans for it after his desired original lead, Princess Diana, passed away in.

The new film is said to be “inspired” by the blockbuster original, suggesting it might be moderately different.

Lawrence Kasdan, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirch are producers on the new version; no cast set for the redo at this stage.

Bryce Dallas Howard will direct a reboot of ’80s classic “Flight of the Navigator” for Disney. Expected to air on the house of mouse’s Disney+ platform, the new film will feature a female in the lead.

Both Disney and Lionsgate had attempted to do remakes of the 1986 film over the years but neither of those incarnations achieved liftoff.

Howard has been directing for two Disney+ series in recent times “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett”.
