Rhys Ifans set for Showtime’s Trending Down

Rhys Ifans

Since everyone else is, Rhys Ifans is headed to TV.

Rather than sit around and wait for someone to offer his a wasteful supporting role in some quaint, forgettable Brit comedy about star-crossed lovers who meet on a double decker, the “Notting Hill” and “Amazing Spider-Man” star has signed to star in a new Showtime series called “Trending Down”.

The show stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as a chap whose advertising agency is getting up to speed with times, and finds little to no use for his prehistoric ways. Ifans will play the “youth obsessed” boss of the place.

John Cameron Mitchell (”Hedwig and The Angry Inch”) will direct the pilot.
