Sam Rockwell to star in The Eel

Too much Sam Rockwell is never enough. His latest film, “Laggies”, premieres at Sundance this weekend, while it’s just been announced that he will re-team with the producers of “The Way Way Back” to play an escaped convict in “The Eel”.

Rockwell’s character will be “ensnared in a plot by a corrupt sheriff to kidnap the young heiress to an oil fortune, complicating his quest for freedom”. The script, written and directed by Roberto Bentivegna, made The Black List in 2012.

The three-man team of Kevin Walsh, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash haven’t yet named their outfit, but Walsh told Deadline that “Nat, Jim and I want to foster other directors and writers with this new company”.
