Rosenbaum wants to play Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman

Say what you will about young Superlad series “Smallville” – and I know many had their problems with it (but try fill 9 seasons of a show with only unique, sold storylines! it’d be a challenge, no!?) – there’s no denying Michael Rosenbaum’s brilliant turn as the hairless rogue, Lex.

Though Rosenbaum exited the series a couple of seasons shy of it’s ‘Ok, he got the cape.. now fly!’ finale (he was in that finale, though), fans still barrack for a Rosenbaum reprise of Luthor.

Media Mikes
asked the actor, out promoting his new film “Back in the Day”, whether he might’ve been contacted about trying out for the Luthor part in WB blockbuster “Batman vs. Superman”.

“The fans have been unbelievable. They’ve tweeted me, I’ve tweeted back…I’ve been to conventions and they always ask me, “Would you do it?” And I’m not an idiot, of course I’d do it. I’d love to do it. But I think Joaquin Phoenix is probably gonna do it or somebody. I’m a big Zack Snyder fan. Obviously, I think I could play the role. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I don’t hold my breath because I know there’s the stigma, “He was the TV Smallville Lex Luthor.” I say that sarcastically, but I think it’s a shame. If people like the role and what I did with it, then they should consider it. But I’m not the director. I’m not the producer. Long story short, I’d do it in a fucking heartbeat.”

So there you go, Rosenbaum wants a crack at Luthor again. Surely a screen test wouldn’t hurt? (But as Rosenbaum said, I think the stigma is “He was the TV Smallville Lex Luthor” so it’s doubtful they’d want to cross-pollinate screen-Superman’s). Or is it too late? Is there something to that Joaquin Phoenix rumour?
